ACTEGA at interpack 2017: Presents High-quality Colored Laminating Adhesives

Published on 2017-05-02. Author : SpecialChem

“Arena for Packaging Solutions" -- under this slogan ACTEGA is presenting its latest innovative solutions at one of the world’s leading packaging tradeshow interpack in Düsseldorf. The five core themes in 2017 are laminating adhesives, second-generation adhesives for closures, heat-seal systems for peel-off ends, printing inks for portion packs and direct food contact, and water-based protective coatings.

interpack 2017

Arena for Packaging Solutions

The ACTEGA colored adhesives combine decorative appearance with functional performance. As a result, the colored adhesives conserve printing inks and eliminate one work step during packaging manufacture. The competence of ACTEGA for pigmented product solutions adds unique features to the range of high-performance laminating adhesives.

Environmentally friendlier TPE Lacquers

The second generation of TPE coatings from ACTEGA is BPA-NI, PVC, and melamine-free. It is a two-layer coating system with the pigmented size coat ACTEbond® TPE-515-MF and the adhesive top coat ACTEbond® TPE-650-MF.

ACTEbond® TPE-515-MF shows excellent chemical resistance to various types of fillings and is also suitable for filling products containing acids or sulfur. ACTEbond® TPE-650-MF has a broad application window in combination with excellent compound adhesion and can be processed on several types of compound-lining machines.

Heat-seal Systems for Peel-off Ends

ACTEGA is presenting two new systems with outstanding performance. ACTEseal® HM-073-M has been developed especially to seal aluminum lids (especially for dry fillings) against uncoated tinplate, while ACTEseal ® HS-800-F8 is the right choice for coated tinplate. For an optimum system, ACTEGA recommends the combination of ACTEcoat ® SL-400-1 for tinplate and ACTEseal ® HS-800-F8 for the membrane.

New color Series

ACTEGA has added a new color series to its pigmented product solutions portfolio, which is - due to the use of FDA-listed raw materials - suitable for direct food contact. The colors can also be processed on conventional printing lines (flexographic printing presses). The printing inks are suitable for portion packs.

Water-based Coatings

The ACTEGA portfolio also includes water-based retort-resistant protection coatings (e.g. for the outer side of pet-food lids). These are available as clear-coat (enhancing the gloss of the aluminum) or colored (e.g. gold). The heat-press resistance is up to 300° C (depending on the stoving conditions).

ACTEGA and ACTEGA Terra, ACTEGA DS, and ACTEGA Rhenania are presenting their products at the usual site at interpack in Düsseldorf in Hall 11, Stand A12 from May 4 – 10, 2017.

ACTEGA develops and produces coatings and sealants, printing inks and adhesives for flexible and rigid packaging and for the graphic arts industry. These products do not only lend an attractive appearance to materials such as paper, paper board, plastic and metal, but also provide clearly defined technical properties, e.g. chemical and physical resistance to the materials' surface.

The main customers for the products ACTEGA develops, manufactures and markets are in the packaging industry. ACTEGA is one of the market leaders in overprint varnishes and is the technological leader in the rapidly expanding sector of water-based sealants for flexible packaging. ACTEGA products do not only ensure that the packaging will look appealing, but also help that the contents will remain fresh for a longer time.

ACTEGA is already one of the world’s leading vendors of sealants for closures and glass containers; ACTEGA is also the technological leader when it comes to water-based sealants for cans. These products are used to make seals between the contact surfaces, such as glass on metal (bottle closures) or metal on metal (can lids). They ensure that the contents and other substances such as CO2 remain inside the packaging while “locking out” all contaminants.
