Dow Corning at SNEC 2014: to Exhibit Silicone-based Adhesive & Sealant Solutions

Published on 2014-05-19. Author : SpecialChem

SHANGHAI, China -- Dow Corning will introduce its latest solar solutions at booth W4-523 at SNEC 2014, the 8th International Photovoltaic Conference and Expo, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from May 20 to May 22. As the global leader in innovative silicone-based solutions, Dow Corning will display several new photovoltaic (PV) products, which are designed to meet the increased industry demand for product efficiency and LCOE (Levelized Cost of Electricity) reduction. As a trusted technology collaborator with solar businesses along the value chain—including cell and module manufacturers, installers, project developers, utilities and investors—Dow Corning understands their needs for reliable, high performance and cost effective PV solutions.

“For more than 70 years, Dow Corning has been a leader in silicone-based technology that has helped advance industries. By bringing several new, breakthrough solutions to the global solar market, Dow Corning underscores its full commitment to the PV industry, by helping create more powerful, reliable systems.” Says Francois Bertero, Dow Corning Global Solar Market Manager. Bertero will further discuss the company’s latest efforts on solutions for product efficiency and LCOE reduction during SNEC 2014.

With a focus on solutions that drive down costs, enhance system performance and help make solar more competitive with traditional forms of energy, the company will debut its innovative potting agent solution PV-7326 at the SNEC 2014. Developed by the local China R&D team for the global market, the silicone potting material is a tailor made product for PV J-box potting, protecting the internal components from corrosion and making the PV J-box smaller. The new potting agent thus helps PV module manufacturers reduce cost and improve product performance.

Besides PV-7326, Dow Corning will feature several key silicone-based solutions at SNEC 2014:
  • PV-5802: a high performance and reliable electrically conductive adhesive for assembling the PV module’s back contact, which helps increase long term sustainability and reduces the overall cost.
  • PV-6212: an optically clear silicone encapsulant providing high transmission of light to the solar cell and superior reliability and durability for modules, allowing high performance in PID (Potential Induced Degradation) resistance.
  • PV-8007: a neutral sealant that not only seals and protects, but also offers health and safety because it is non-toxic. PV-8007 is the latest addition to Dow Corning’s broad frame sealant family, confirming the company ability to continuously bring new benefits to customers through innovation.

At the event, Dow Corning experts will take part in a technical sharing to emphasize silicon encapsulation solutions. Moreover, at the booth the company will showcase key case studies on topics such as new generation sealants and new installation method-rail bonding, as well as demonstrate real PV modules that use Dow Corning’s advanced raw materials.
