Dow’s TILE BOND™ Roof Tile Adhesive Receives UL Code Evaluation Report and DOI Approval

Published on 2014-11-28. Author : SpecialChem

MIDLAND, Mich. -- -Dow Building Solutions (DBS), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, announced TILE BOND™ Roof Tile Adhesive received UL Code Evaluation Report and approval by the Texas Department of Insurance (DOI) for use in securing concrete and clay roofs. These designations enable the high performing TILE BOND Roof Tile Adhesive to expand its acceptance throughout North America, including Florida, Texas, the Gulf Coast, California and the Mid-Atlantic, some of the largest regions with harsh weather environments. The one-component polyurethane adhesive reduces installation time and labor costs for roofing contractors and its bond stays strong, providing building owners with peace of mind during extreme weather conditions, including hurricanes, severe winds and high temperatures. TILE BOND Roof Tile Adhesive also has zero ozone-depletion potential.

Roofing contractors benefit from TILE BOND Roof Tile Adhesive’s ease of installation. TILE BOND™ Roof Tile Adhesive enhances traditional attachment methods such as screws, wire ties and clips. The one-component polyurethane foam adhesive reduces installation time and labor costs. Minimal expanding TILE BOND Roof Tile Adhesive also provides greater attachment strength while minimizing nail penetrations and reducing roof weight loads. TILE BOND can be used for new, re-roof and specialty applications and is currently sold by a select distributor network which will be expanding throughout North America providing greater accessibility.

“The UL listing—which includes ASTM E108 fire testing—combined with the evaluation report and the Texas DOI approval for TILE BOND, underscores Dow’s ongoing investment in market development, education, brand and code approvals along with our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with proven solutions that help improve performance and their bottom line,” said Kaethe Schuster, North America marketing manager for Dow Building Solutions. “These additional approvals will help open up opportunities, providing contractors with greater access to more jobs, in more applications and regions, including higher wind zones. It will also benefit building owners looking for the elegance, beauty and durability of a properly installed tile roof, who can now rest assured that their roofs will withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.”

Residential and Commercial building codes are issued by different city and state jurisdictions based on climate zones. Today TILE BOND™ Roof Tile Adhesive Building Code Compliance are as follows:

• Miami-Dade NOA No.: 14-9729.08 Expiration Date: 08/23/16
• Florida Building Code FL 717 (see Revision 4)
• UL code report ER18231-01
• Texas Department of Insurance evaluation report number RC-28
• TILE BOND has been approved as a system component in the SECURE TILE ROOF Components system by Eagle Roofing Products
