H.B. Fuller Introduces Swiftlock LT5000, a PUR Reactive Hotmelt Adhesive for Book Binding

Published on 2014-11-11. Author :

Zurich, Switzerland -- H.B. Fuller (NYSE: FUL) confirms the launch of an impressive book binding adhesive named Swiftlock LT5000. It delivers high-performance bonding, and minimizes MDI emissions by working at lower application temperatures.

This polyurethane reactive hot melt adhesive from H.B. Fuller meets stringent workplace emission standards set by DGU Information 213-715 (previously BGI 790-015), and continues to be welcomed by manufacturers looking for high-speed initial binding strength, even on dry paper stock, and in warm ambient conditions.

MDI emissions, measured in the application area when the temperature is maintained at 100°C, are as low as 0.001mg/m3. This is well below the required level of 0.05mg/m3 and has been certified by the German Berufsgenossenschaft Druck und Papierverarbeitung.

H.B. Fuller continues to match its process and product innovations to its customers’ critical needs, which in this case includes a rapid-setting, flexible adhesive film that ensures integrity on the conveyor belt, plus fast trimming and packing of straight-edged brochures and books. This high-performance adhesive has the necessary versatility to be applied to both soft and hardcover books, as well as compatibility with almost all machines, with either nozzle or roller applications. Importantly, it also helps customers optimize health and safety on their production lines.

In addition to increasing the choice and performance of products available to the book binding industry, H.B. Fuller’s Swiftlock LT5000 reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, a critical consideration for manufacturers. In the spirit of collaboration, it partnered closely with machine manufacturers and customers to leverage its experience to solve another adhesion challenge.
Stuart Jenkinson, business director, H.B. Fuller, says, “In today’s challenging print environment, choosing the right spine glue is key to delivering high-quality products. The specialized adhesive properties of Swiftlock LT5000, combined with the health and safety advantages it offers, has proven to be the right choice for many book binding manufacturers.”

In addition to a comprehensive range of market-leading products, designed specifically for the graphic arts industry, H.B. Fuller provides customers with the full benefits of its technical support services and global strength.
