H.B. Fuller Unveils Advantra True™, a Renewably-resourced Hotmelt Adhesive for Packaging

Published on 2014-11-21. Author : SpecialChem

Zurich, Switzerland: H.B. Fuller (NYSE: FUL) has confirmed the commercial launch of its renewable raw material hot melt adhesive - Advantra True for Europe. This next generation end-of-line adhesive is specially designed to help manufacturers deliver a more sustainable future for the packaging industry. Based on a significant percentage of renewable raw materials it delivers impressive performance from the production line through to end-of-life recycling.

The pressure to produce more sustainable packaging solutions means manufacturers are constantly looking at all aspects of their production process in order to cut the consumption of resources used, increase the percentage of renewables and facilitate recycling after use. As adhesives are clearly an integral part of any solution, Advantra True’s strong performance characteristics across all these areas explains why the packaging industry is already showing so much interest in the product.

The commercial launch of Advantra True follows an extensive period of customer trials, which have proven the advantages of this new renewable resources hot melt adhesive range across a wide range of carton types, including recycled carton grades. Containing 40% ‘forest sourced’ renewable resources, Advantra True has been shown to deliver the bonding power, production line efficiencies, low odor, good thermal stability and positive aging characteristics the market has come to expect from H.B. Fuller’s high performance Advantra brand. In addition, the hot melt adhesive aids end-of-line recycling, separating well in the re-pulping process.

The products launch is testament to the Company’s ongoing investment in adhesive innovation, focused on helping the packaging industry respond to market demands for more efficient and environmentally friendly packaging. As Elizabeth Staab, marketing manager H.B. Fuller, confirms, “The development of Advantra True is an important step on a continuous journey as we seek ever more sustainable hot melt adhesives for the future. It demonstrates the value of our approach to innovation, as we connect people, products and processes to deliver a total package which will boost customers’ performance and help them create more sustainable solutions.”

H.B. Fuller certifies that the Advantra True adhesive grade is compliant with European food safety regulations.
