LORD Corporation Unveils LORD® SC-620 RTV Silicone Adhesive

Published on 2015-05-22. Author : SpecialChem

LORD Corporation has announced the availability of LORD® SC-620 Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV), a one-component silicone adhesive.

Developed in response to customer requests for such a product and designed for use as a sealing adhesive or potting material for environmental protection of electronic assemblies and components, it is ideal for situations in which a non-corrosive cure is essential. LORD SC-620 RTV silicone adhesive can be used in coating applications of semiconductors and integrated coils, as well as in adhesive/sealing applications of electrical wires, terminals, mounting resistors and connectors. Key attributes of LORD SC-620 RTV silicone adhesive include:

• Neutral Cure — provides rapid, non-corrosive curing.
• Low Stress — exhibits low shrinkage and stress on components as it cures.
• Durable — composed of a dimethyl silicone polymer that will not depolymerize when heated in confined spaces.
• Insulative — provides excellent electrical insulation properties.
• Broad Temperature Range — can be used on parts and devices that experience operating temperatures from -65 to +240°C.
• Non-Sag — remains in position when applied on vertical or overhead surfaces.

LORD SC-620 RTV adhesive can be applied using handheld cartridges or automatic dispensing equipment. Some bonding appli¬cations may require the use of a primer. Although LORD SC-620 adhesive is generally considered to be non-corrosive to most substrates, the oxime cure system may cause discoloration in substrates containing copper or copper alloys. The cure begins immediately once the adhesive is exposed to air. At room temperature (25°C) and 50 percent relative humidity, the adhesive will skin over in 25 minutes and completely cure in 24 hours.
