Antioxidants

Adhesive and sealant formulators add antioxidants to combat and prevent the propagation of oxidation, which impairs the mechanical, aesthetic and bonding properties. An adhesive/sealant formulation can witness oxidation at any given stage of its life (from synthesis to its final end usage). The way an antioxidant interrupts the oxidation process greatly varies with its chemical structure. Therefore, a number of families of commercial antioxidants for adhesives and sealants can be found like primary and secondary antioxidants which include phenolics, amines, thioesters, organophosphites....
