Defoamers / Anti-foaming Agents

Foam formed during processing, mixing or during high speed coating processes is a menace for many adhesive applications. Therefore, additives like defoamers/ antifoaming agents are added to an adhesive formulation to cut down the risk of foam formation. While defoamers are added to eliminate the preexisting foam, antifoaming agents are added before the formulation is prepared to prevent occurrence of foaming. Not only do these agents prevent foam formation but also help in maintaining the aesthetics and the adhesion properties of an adhesive. Defoamers/antifoaming agents can be either silicone or non silicone based.
