Light Stabilizers / UV Absorbers

Adhesives if exposed to sunlight/UV rays can undergo several irreversible changes like discoloration and loss of adhesion. As a result, the service life and aesthetics of the adhesive/sealant get decreased. To retard the deterioration caused by sunlight and other UV light sources, formulators add UV absorbers/light stabilizers to adhesives and sealants. There are various UV absorbers/ light stabilizers available as additives but the most commonly used are hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), benzotriazoles and benzophenones.
