Ceramer™ 1608 polymer by Baker Hughes is a grafted maleic anhydride derivative onto hydrocarbon polymer in a manner that adds high levels of acid and ester functionality without significantly degrading the hydrocarbon backbone. It acts as an adhesion promoter. Disperses in water and reacts to form derivatives. Improves the solvent and water resistance, compatibilizes the polar and non-polar resins, waxes, as well as additives. Although this polymer has similar or higher acid numbers than oxidized products, it is much harder with higher melting points.
