BYK® -R 606

BYK® -R 606 by BYK is a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid ester. Acts as a rheology agent. It increases hydrogen bonding when combined with hydrophilic fumed silica or organically modified clays resulting in good anti-sagging properties with improved flow and deaeration. It is used to stabilize molecular sieves like zeolith in polyols, shows a stronger influence on gel-time in vinyl ester resins and could require adjustment with additional promoter. Used as thixotropy enhancing additives in unsaturated polyester and epoxy. BYK® -R 606 is suitable for filled systems to prevent or reduce the sedimentation of fillers during storage. Its recommended levels are 10 - 25% fumed silica in vinyl ester resins, 5 - 15% fumed silica in other resins, 2 - 10% organically modified clay in unsaturated polyester and 0.2 - 1% inorganic fillers in base resin.
