Behenyl Methacrylate 1822 F (BEMA 1822 F) by BASF is a mixture of C18, C20 and C22 methacrylates. It is a low volatility, monofunctional monomer with a long, hydrophobic side chain. Forms homopolymers and copolymers which can be prepared with acrylic acid (& its salts), amides, esters, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters and drying oils. Behenyl Methacrylate 1822 F (BEMA 1822 F) imparts flexibility, improved impact strength, chemical resistance, low shrinkage, hydrophobicity, adhesion, weather resistance, water resistance to polymers. Readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds. Applications include pressure-sensitive adhesives.
