iso-Decyl Methacrylate (IDMA)

iso-Decyl Methacrylate (IDMA) by BASF is a hydrophobic, low viscosity, monofunctional, flexibilising and plasticizing monomer. Forms homopolymers and copolymers which can be prepared with acrylic acid (& its salts), amides, esters, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters and drying oils. Imparts low glass transition temperature, hydrophobicity, low shrinkage, chemical resistance, water resistance, weatherability and impact strength to polymers. iso-Decyl Methacrylate (IDMA) readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds, hence it is also a very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses.
