KURARAY POVAL™ 5-88 by Kuraray is a partially hydrolyzed, polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade. It is used as an adhesive promoter. It exhibits good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity.

It provides good cohesion and adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments.
Aqueous solution of KURARAY POVAL™ 5-88 can be added to polymer emulsion which is already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol to extend the open time, increase setting speed and influence the rheology.
It is recommended for modification of emulsion & remoistenable adhesives in the paper processing industry.
It is also used in postage stamps and labels.
