KURARAY POVAL™ 95-88 by Kuraray is a water-soluble, partially saponified, polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH). It is manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It is used as an adhesive promoter and protective colloid. It shows good adhesion properties. Aqueous solution of this product can be added to polymer emulsion which is already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol to extend the open time, increase setting speed and influence the rheology. The excellent film properties of KURARAY POVAL™ 95-88 include high cohesion & toughness, low electrostatic charging and re-dissolving capacity of the dried film in water. It is suitable for remoistenable adhesives in the paper industry. It is also used in postage stamps and labels. The shelf life of the product is 12 months.
