There are many adhesives out there that react to ultraviolet light in their curing process. But what if exposure to UV "turned off" rather than "turned on" an adhesive on demand? Efforts to produce pressure-sensitive adhesives which can be made less tacky where needed have been ongoing for over 30 years. However with the new millenium's applications come original ways of solving the problem. One of the prime exponents of this odd detackification concept has been 3M, perhaps unsurprisingly considering its researchers are encouraged to spend up to 15 percent of their time on their personal projects.
