Delayed Action PSAs

Edward M. Petrie – Dec 2, 2009

This editorial looks at delayed action pressure sensitive adhesives, and describes formulations that can be heat activated. Major applications are linerless pressure sensitive tapes and labels, but other innovative uses are being explored. An interesting type of pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is one that only becomes pressure sensitive when exposed to an exterior element such as heat, moisture, or solvent. These adhesives are beginning to become known by the term "delayed action adhesives" (DAA).
