Progress in UV-Cured Adhesives

Andy Extance – Sep 9, 2009

Adhesives that react when exposed to ultra-violet light are becoming increasingly popular in high volume manufacturing because of the rapid and selective curing they offer. However challenges remain, and the latest methods developed to tackle them include dual-cure systems, hyperbranched polymers and molecular weight control. With researchers from high-volume electronics manufacturers including Blackberry maker RIM and Samsung amongst those contributing to knowledge in this area, this is clearly an important technology for the future.
