What Adhesives Tell Forensic Scientists - and What that Can Tell Adhesive Formulators

Andy Extance – Nov 16, 2011

Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) are very often encountered in forensic investigations. This year, forensic scientists using atomic force microscopy imaging and force mapping have studied PSAs in exceptional detail. This shows the existence of distinct adhesive and surfactant or surfactant-enriched phases with different adhesion force energy in different adhesives. As well as allowing the forensic scientists to discover clues about crime, these also provide clues for formulators.
