The rheological properties of an adhesive or sealant are vital to its success in the market. A well formulated adhesive or sealant has balanced rheological properties, easy but controlled application, high sag or slump resistance with good storage stability. Selecting the right thickener in the adhesive or sealant formulation allows the manufacturer the ability to design the right characteristics that are needed for a specific end use. Organic thixotropes are castor oil or polyamide based materials that are especially useful in creating high performance construction sealants, caulks, adhesives, and mastics. These additives provide outstanding efficiency for viscosity build, sag control, and are shear thinning for easy dispensing. The new generation of THIXATROL Rheological Additives can enable manufacturers to meet productivity and sustainability targets. The natural source and the ability to be activated at significantly lower temperatures enables increased production with lower cost in use.
