SBR dispersions are extensively used in building applications, as sealing and binding agents. In this application SBR is used as an alternative to other rubber based mastics, but it is more expensive. It offers better durability, reduced shrinkage and increased flexibility, as well as being resistant to damp conditions.

Resulting Properties

This adhesive is a high solids content styrene butadiene and naphthenic oil based adhesive for use on carpet and felt backed flooring. It has emissions satisfying CRI Green Label TVOC requirements. The adhesive formulation offers low raw materials cost and increased bond strength over straight styrene butadiene latex. Such adhesives are not recommended for homogeneous or solid vinyl sheet goods where plasticizer migration is a concern.
