3M Announces Executive Appointments

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- 3M has announced the following executive changes for the Industrial Business and Transportation Business, effective June 1, 2005.

Harold J. Wiens, executive vice president, Industrial Business, has been named executive vice president, Transportation Business. In addition, Wiens will continue to oversee 3M's planned acquisition of CUNO Inc., a leading liquid filtration manufacturer. Wiens succeeds Steven J. Landwehr, executive vice president, Transportation Business, who has announced his plans to retire following 30 years of service to 3M.

Hak Cheol (H.C.) Shin, division vice president, Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division, has been named to succeed Wiens as executive vice president, Industrial Business.

Wiens and Shin will report to W. James McNerney, Jr., chairman of the board and CEO.
