Whoever travels from Europe or the American East Coast to Asia will fly over the Arabian Gulf. Due to the geographic location and the young, up-coming airlines of the gulf-states, the Middle East Region records massive growth across all segments of the aerospace industry and leads in many ways in terms of innovation and expansion. For the first time now the MRO Middle East Conference & Exhibition takes place in Dubai. As a supplier of innovative adhesive systems for the aerospace industry, Henkel is also well represented at this event.

Since 2002 the number of passengers of the International Airport Dubai is growing for more than 15 percent each year. Today the Middle East is one of the world's fastest-growing aviation regions and a leading buyer of aircrafts worldwide. This comes as no surprise, due to Dubai's global recognition as a world class trade, business and tourism destination. Especially for the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) industry a new aviation event is taking place from 21 to 22 January in Dubai. The MRO Middle East Conference and Exhibition 2009 is the largest Maintenance and Repair exhibition and conference in this region that will assemble key decision-makers from airlines and suppliers to discuss upcoming trends, regulations, best practice and the most critical issues impacting this business segment.

Henkel provides a wide variety of cleaners for the aviation and aerospace industry under the Turco

As a key manufacturer of high performance structural adhesives and surface treatments for the aerospace industry, Henkel presents its wide product portfolio for the MRO segment at the exhibition together with his authorized local partner AirChem Consumables FZCO. "The MRO Middle East is an ideal platform, which not only enables Henkel to get in contact with our customer and their specific needs, but also to make our presence known to prospective new clients", comments Roseline Clementi, Product & Communication Manager - Aerospace. For more than 40 years Henkel's products have served the aerospace market under the Hysol structural adhesive brand, the Turco paint stripping and cleaning brand, the Frekote mold releases and the Alodine conversion coatings.

In the Honeycomb and Metal Assembly segment for example, Henkel offers metal bonding films for repair and original construction to all major aerospace specifications. The portfolio includes paste adhesives used for bonding, potting and filling, and syntactic films and pastes such as expanding epoxy films for high strength core filling or honeycomb edge close out along with syntactic pastes for edge filling, fastener reinforcement and aerodynamic smoothing. One example is the newest Hysol EA 9696 paste adhesive for metal assembly, which offers an optimum blend of toughness and high glass transition temperature and works well with all industry standard adhesive primers. It is designed for optimum wet out of aerospace anodized aluminum.

In addition Henkel provides a wide variety of cleaners for the aviation and aerospace industry under the Turco brand. This array of products is based upon neutral, acid or alkaline systems designed to fit the demanding requirements of the aerospace industry. The products are typically used in immersion tanks, spray or brush applications. Aircraft appearance and part cleaning products range from exterior aircraft cleaners to landing gear and brake cleaners to aircraft engine scale and carbon removers. In the aircraft engine area, Henkel has a complete line of hot section and cold section cleaners designed to remove carbon and scale and restore a jet engine to peak operating efficiency.

Cleaners for the aircraft exterior involve various metal cleaners aggressive enough to remove soil and stains while protecting the aircraft's exterior surfaces including light metals such as aluminum, magnesium and titanium. Key airlines depend upon Henkel's hot and cold section cleaners to restore jet engine's fuel efficiency. Compressor washes can be used on aircraft for removal of fuel robbing carbon deposits.

One the main concerns about the maintenance of an aircraft is the development of corrosion generated on the structure of the aircrafts that are constantly exposed to extreme climate constraints. Henkel surface treatment solutions also offer a range of conversion coatings under the Alodine brand. Conversion coatings improve corrosion resistance and paint adhesion for instance such as the Alodine 871 Touch-N-Prep, a trivalent chrome conversion coating pen for touch up and repair of aluminum surfaces.

For more than 130 years, Henkel has been a leader with brands and technologies that make people's lives easier, better and more beautiful. Henkel operates in three business areas - Home Care, Personal Care, and Adhesive Technologies - and is ranked among the Fortune Global 500 companies. More than 60 percent of Henkel's sales are in consumer goods, while the industrial business accounts for almost 40 percent of the company's total sales. In fiscal 2007, Henkel generated sales of 13,074 million euros and operating profit of 1,344 million euros. Our more than 55,000 employees worldwide are dedicated to fulfilling our corporate claim, "A Brand like a Friend," and ensuring that people in more than 125 countries can trust in brands and technologies from Henkel.
