BASF & Markor Kick-start Production Plant for BDO in Xinjiang, China

Shanghai, China -- BASF and Xinjiang Markor Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (“Markor”) inaugurated a new butanediol (BDO) plant in Korla, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, in Northwest China. The plant, which has an annual capacity of 100,000 tons, is operated by a joint venture between Markor and BASF registered under the name of Markor Meiou Chemical (Xinjiang) Co., Ltd.

BDO is used in the manufacturing of technical plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers.

About Markor Meiou Chemical (Xinjiang) Co., Ltd.

A joint venture established by Markor Chemical and BASF, Markor Meiou Chemical (Xinjiang) Co., Ltd. (Markor 51%, BASF 49%) is developing a BDO plant with annual capacity of 100,000 tons BDO.
