Clariant Announces Global Price Increases

Muttenz -- Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announceda further global price increase in the range of 5% to 12%.

In recent months Clariant has significantly decreased its costs. The company hasaccelerated its restructuring efforts and increased productivity. In the same period,feedstock prices of the chemical industry have risen dramatically. Clariant finds itself inthe position now, where further price increases are necessary to compensate for the highspeed of raw material and energy cost rises. Therefore the company will increase its pricesin the range of 5% to 12%.

In a letter addressing the customers, Jan Secher, CEO of Clariant, wrote: "In order to meetthe future needs of our customers, we have to remain a strong partner, who is able tofurther invest in process and product innovations, as well as in availability, quality andsafety of our products. On this basis we are forced to significantly increase our prices inorder to meet these expectations."
