GAIL (India) Limited and DuPont India signed a marketing alliance for selling the DDG system, which comprises of DuPont™ Fusabond® adhesive products, DuPont™ Nap-Gard® epoxy powder and GAIL's high density polyethylene resin, as a package in India and abroad. According to the agreement, the two companies will market the three-layer polyethylene pipe coating system in India and select world markets to begin with and explore other opportunities for expanding the market. The agreement was initialed by Mr B.S. Negi, Director (Planning) in the presence of Mr. Proshanto Banerjee, Chairman & Managing Director, GAIL (India) Limited and Mr. Henrique H Ubrig, President, DuPont India.

The DDG system will henceforth be a preferred choice for all the pipeline projects undertaken by GAIL. The company has already used this compound in their recently commissioned Dahej-Vijaipur pipeline project. According to the agreement signed today, GAIL will now market the system for other pipeline projects in India while DuPont will help in identifying international customers. Turkey, Iran, China and other Asian countries are seen as potential international markets for the product.

Speaking on the occasion of the signing ceremony, Mr. Proshanto Banerjee CMD, GAIL (India) Limited said, "DuPont and GAIL have been working together for the last few months to develop the customized polyethylene compounds and resins offered under this alliance. Given the technical soundness of the DDG system and the strengths of each company, we are confident the association will be a mutually beneficial one."

Mr. Henrique H Ubrig, President DuPont India, added, "DuPont is very pleased to have this alliance with GAIL. It allows us to offer solutions which contribute to protecting national assets - India's pipelines, - and it allows us to contribute to the country's economic growth by offering world class solutions for protecting pipelines throughout the region.

The DDG three-layer polyethylene coating system is the most proven and widely used coating system in the world for steel pipes. Compared to other coating systems, it has been proven to be better at preventing corrosion and protecting the pipeline from mechanical damage during handling, laying and use. The DDG is also known to be more environment friendly.

Mr Jagdish Kumar, Business Leader, DuPont Industrial Polymers, who was also present at the signing ceremony said, "This alliance is the beginning of a new chapter in the Indian pipe coating industry. It will be our endeavour to provide our customers with customized solutions rather than products. In addition, the local availability of these products will go a long way in cutting down the long lead times which the customers currently face."
