The Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry (API) announced that Honeywell has agreed to be a sponsor for Polyurethanes Conference 2002. The conference is scheduled for Oct. 13-16 in Salt Lake City.

"Honeywell has been a very active participant in the polyurethanes industry this year," said Dick Mericle, executive director of API. "As our industry prepares to comply with a mandated phase-out of HCFC-141b blowing agent, Honeywell has been working to develop an alternative for this material. We are pleased to have them as a sponsor at this year's conference because they represent the innovation and forward-thinking that drives our industry."

More than 1,200 people are expected to attend this year's conference, which will feature 73 technical papers and five panel discussions on issues facing the polyurethanes industry. In addition, a three-day seminar on polyurethane chemistry and applications will be offered.

"We're pleased to be a sponsor at this year's Polyurethanes Conference, " said Mark Lewis, global marketing manager for foams, Honeywell Specialty Materials. "We have made a great deal of progress this year with Enovate(tm) 3000 blowing agent, an alternative blowing agent to replace HCFC-141b. The annual Polyurethanes Conference gives us an opportunity to share our progress in this area with the industry and our customers."
