Icap-Sira Opens New UV Acrylic HMA Plant in Italy Icap-Sira opens a new facility completely dedicated to the production of UV curing acrylic hot-melt adhesives. The new facility was inaugurated at Icap-Sira site in Barberino di Mugello, Italy.

The new evaporation plant is directly connected to the polymerization reactors, thus eliminating the need for road transportation of the intermediate products.

Meeting Global Demand

The new plant will contribute to satisfying the globally growing demand for innovative and sustainable technologies. UV hot-melt adhesive is the best alternative to solvent-borne Acrylic PSA. The fields of application cover a wide variety of technical uses, including tapes, labels and medical industries.

While keeping the same performance of solvent-based products, it eliminates the need to evaporate, burn or recover the solvents at the coating line. The solvent is recovered and reused several times directly at our production plant, thus greatly reducing environmental impact and increasing sustainability.

Moreover, UV hot-melt adhesives offer an outstanding combination of versatile properties thanks to the easier adhesion and cohesion balance controlling, while maintaining appreciated properties of the solvent-based products, like transparency, resistance to aging and to water and chemical agents.
