Leverkusen -- The Technical Rubber Products (TRP) business unit of specialty chemicals group LANXESS AG has increased its prices for NBR (nitrile-butadiene rubber) and CR (chloroprene rubber) globally effective September 1, 2009. Dependent on regions the price adjustment per metric ton comprises up to EUR 190/USD 266 for NBR and up to EUR 150/USD 210 for CR. This adjustment is unavoidable because the costs for raw materials have risen significantly.

Marketed under the LANXESS brand names Perbunan, Krynac and Baymod N the rubber grade NBR is used for seals, hoses in hydraulic and pneumatic applications or blankets for rolls. CR, which LANXESS offers under the name Baypren, is appropiate to produce e.g. cable sheathings, hoses, belts and air springs.

LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals company with sales of EUR 6.58 billion in 2008 and currently 14,335 employees in 23 countries. The company is represented at 46 production sites worldwide. The core business of LANXESS is the development, manufacturing and marketing of plastics, rubber, intermediates and specialty chemicals.
