Kraton to expand Brazilian TPE plant

Kraton Polymers is increasing its styrenic block thermoplastic elastomers production capacity at is Brazilian plant, Paulinia by 25% next year to meet the growing demand of the Latin American, the US and European markets particularly in applications like adhesives, footwear and asphalt.

Following a series of debottlenecking exercises in different units at the plant, the first phase will begin with the installation of a natural gas powered boiler which will increase the amount of steam generated. Other modification projects are also underway to achieve overall expansion.

Garret Davies, Vice President of the Americas, Kraton Polymers said: "The completion of this expansion, scheduled for the end of 2004, will increase capacity by 25% in Latin America."
