Kusumgar, Nerlfi and Growney release adhesives study

Published on 2004-01-16. Author : SpecialChem

According to Kusumgar, Nerfli and Growney's recently completed study, "Adhesives in Developing Regions," adhesive consumption in developing regions of the world is rising at nearly three times that of the U.S. and Western Europe.

Political and economic reforms, rising standards of living, and growing investment in manufacturing facilities are drivers behind this surge in adhesive demand. This 600-page study provides an in-depth analysis of adhesive consumption by end use and technology in some forty countries. Consumption in these regions was $5.7 billion in 2002. Japan, included to round out the Asian region, consumed an additional $1.5 billion of adhesives, but growth there is placed at a 1 percent annual rate.

Asia (excluding Japan) is the largest developing region with adhesive consumption of $3.5 billion. China is the major growth engine in the region, but India, Vietnam, and other countries are also seeing rising adhesive demand.
