UTECH North America 2016 to Host Various Sessions on Polyurethane

With less than 4 weeks to go until the event opens its doors, UTECH North America is taking a look ahead at what's on offer at the well renowned Conference that runs over two days across two separate seminar theatres. The Conference attracts high numbers of delegates, including key industry figures, top name speakers, big brands and quality foot-fall to the trade show which runs from 06-07 April 2016.

Day One / Theatre One:

10.10 - Opening Keynote Presentation - The Dow Chemical Company

10.40 - Plenary presentation - Rob Outram, Director, IAL Consultants will be giving an overview on North American Polyurethane, a Global Snapshot and Strategic Outlook. UTECH North America 2016 will be a good time to assess the impact of growth on the US economy as it faces the future. Shale gas is driving an economic change in the US and falling unemployment levels are increasing the capacity of the economy to consume. In further signs of growing economic confidence, US manufacturers are looking to re-shore many different products.

11.10 - How the 2°C Paris COP21 Agreement Drives Low Carbon Building Energy Efficiency Paul Bertram, Director, Environment and Sustainability/Government Affairs, Kingspan Insulated Panels. How the 2°C Paris COP21 Agreement Drives Low Carbon Building Energy Efficiency. In December 2015 the 21st United Nations Conference of the Parties - the Paris COP21 was convened for the purpose of establishing a global framework to reduce GHGs (Green House Gases).

This session is a firsthand account of participation in the Paris COP21 conference and various side sessions that demonstrate how the goal of 2° C can be delivered.

12.50 - Application of bio-based polycarbonate diol in thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, Changxun Ju, Technical Engineer, Wanhua. A bio-based polycarbonate diol (PCDL) synthesized from bio-based 1,5-pentanediol will be discussed. The bio-based PCDL was successfully applied to produce bio-based TPU that displays both good mechanical properties and chemical resistance in the performance test.

14.55 - Panel discussion: The need to harmonize automotive interior air quality across Europe, Asia and the US which is Chaired by Andrew Kee, Global Director of Chemical Development, The Woodbridge Group. This session also involves Mark Polster of the Ford Motor Company. The World Forum for the harmonization of vehicle regulations has a new issue in its sights: vehicles interior air quality. The issue was raised early in 2015, following media reports about symptoms affecting drivers and/or passengers. The panel will look closely at the issue and the importance of harmonizing those regulations across continents. It will look at the implications for the polyurethane market.

Day Two / Theatre One:

14:10 - Technical Presentation about "Target Polycarbonate Diol based Prepolymers as raw materials for TPUs for special heating and chemical applications”. This session will be held by Manuel Colera (PH.D, Business Development Manager, UBE America Inc) on April 7.
