Silicones with Soft Adhesion

Elkem Silicones, a fully integrated global silicone supplier with more than 60 years of expertise, has been continuously investing to deliver superior silicone products and services meeting the needs of advanced wound care companies.

Silbione® Soft Skin Adhesives combine the proven biocompatiblity of silicones with a soft adhesion to skin, for a true atraumatic removal. They are solvent-free and biocompatible following the ISO10993 standard, making them safe to use in sensitive applications like Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) or advanced wound dressings.

Unveiling Biocompatible Gel

Elkem Silicones will unveil Silbione® RT Gel 4743, an innovative two-component biocompatible gel designed to bring the benefits of silicones to new areas. With an increased wear time and an excellent compatibility with breathable substrates like non-woven, Silbione® RT Gel 4743 is suitable for devices like fixation tapes, wearable devices, post-operatory dressings, and even first-aid bandages.

Meeting Requirements of Wound Care Industry

Elkem Silicones offers tailor-made services to meet the stringent requirements of the advanced wound care industry, including manufacturing the material in an ISO 8 clean room and controlling the bioburden on each manufactured batch. The company is also able to support its customers to tackle challenges like implementing suitable test methods, using new materials or improving productivity.

In addition, Elkem Silicones will showcase during the E-poster session the first results of the 'Smart Bandage Project', a collaborative project carried out with industrial & academic partners from the Lyon region. Combining different areas of expertise, the partners have successfully developed a prototype of an innovative wound dressing able to detect and reveal potential nosocomial infections of exudative wounds by Staphylococcus Aureus.

Bertrand Bordes, Global Market Manager said:

"We are very happy to demonstrate the potential of our silicone solutions in both modern and traditional wound care, and the EWMA Conference is the perfect platform to do so.”
