Plexus MA8105ITW Performance Polymers introduces Plexus® MA8105, a methyl methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive. The new MMA adhesives bond a wide range of materials along with "difficult to bond" metals like hot-dipped galvanized steel, or tough semi-crystalline plastics like polyamides (nylons).

High-temperature Resistance with Broad Adhesion Range

  • Broad Adhesion – Customers need to bond a full range of materials. The new MMA structural adhesive is suitable for bonding galvanized steel, nylons to composites, other metals and plastics
  • High-temperature Resistance – Adhesive suitable for applications requiring high strength even at 180°F (82°C) or higher
  • Fast Throughput – The adhesive strength development matches expectations. Making more parts per hour improves efficiency and lowers cost
  • Toughness Requirement –high strength adhesive offers good elongation handling impact and fatigue
  • Cure Tack-free, Sandable & Paintable –Adhesive cures tack-free and accepts most paints
  • Non-sag on Vertical Surfaces – Adhesive stays where it is put
  • Handle Off-ratio Mixing – The new adhesives do not require exact mix ratios

Easy-to-use Adhesive with Reduced Odor

The MA8100 family of products are easy-to-use 1:1 mix-ratio high-strength and elongation acrylate adhesives with excellent adhesion properties on metals, including several types of galvanized, composites, rubbers, coatings, and thermoplastics. They come with the added benefit of greatly reduced odor which is typical of acrylate adhesives.

Plexus® MA8105 is a 5-minute working time product with fixture times between 12-15 minutes. Plexus® MA8105 takes the adhesion, mechanical properties of other MA8100 series products, and adds quicker product throughput.

The new adhesive has primerless adhesion to a wide range of substrates. Composites, painted metals, and amorphous thermoplastics are often bonded with little to no surface preparation. Plexus® MA8105 adhesive bonds oily metals. The adhesive can withstand long-term environmental exposure. Parts can be bonded and survive in typical outdoor environments with significantly higher heat resistance than competitive structural adhesives.

Plexus® MA8105 cures quickly in a range of temperatures, enabling fast throughput. Quick dispensing and part joining mean manufacturing and assembly are optimized, producing more parts per hour. Labor shortages mean manufacturers can turn to creative solutions of adhering to their parts in a fast, efficient manner.
