Nouryon’s New Curing Agents to Improve Adhesive Properties

Published on 2020-02-10. Edited By : SpecialChem

Nouryon’s New Curing Agent to Improve Adhesive Properties Nouryon has introduced two new versions of its Perkadox GB-50 dibenzoyl peroxide (BPO) curing agents that provide significant improvements in the properties of composite products, including improved clarity and better corrosion resistance.

Low Moisture Content with Corrosion Resistance

Customers use curing agents to harden the surfaces of materials including road markings, flooring, elastomeric roof coatings, and adhesives. “The new products, Perkadox GB-50L and Perkadox GB-50X, feature a low moisture content – this prevents hazing, allowing customers to make clearer coatings and composites,” said Ross Opsahl, business development manager thermoset peroxides at Nouryon. “By increasing corrosion resistance, they also help to extend the life of end products” added Opsahl.

The new products also benefit from the use of ethylene glycol dibenzoate (EGDB) as their desensitizing agent, rather than dicyclo hexyl phthalate (DCHP), which the European Union classified as a category 1B Reproductive Toxin.

Perkadox GB-50L and Perkadox GB-50X provide a double benefit for our customers by helping them to make improved end products while at the same time reducing their regulatory burden,” said Alain Rynwalt, vice president polymer catalysts at Nouryon. “They reflect Nouryon’s focus on innovations that help to solve problems for our customers, helping them to generate growth,” added Rynwalt.
