Sartomer at RadTech 2016: to Present Acrylates & Oligomers for Adhesives

Published on 2016-05-13. Author : SpecialChem

Sartomer Americas, a business unit of Arkema Inc., will showcase several innovations for optimizing adhesives for high-end applications and several acrylate oligomer offerings at this year’s RadTech UV+EB technology expo and conference. The event takes place May 16 to 18 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. Sartomer’s formulation experts will give two presentations and showcase three acrylates that highlight how specialty chemicals enable exceptional performance for pressure-sensitive and laminating adhesives. RadTech attendees can stop by Sartomer’s booth 501 to discuss their formulation challenges with Sartomer experts.

The three new acrylates Sartomer is highlighting, CN9031, CN9070, and CN9071, contribute to providing pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) with excellent performance properties. These include high-peel strength and tack adhesion, excellent hydrophobic and hydrophilic adhesion, high-temperature performance, and noise dampening abilities.

These specialty oligomers also help formulators develop high-performance laminating adhesives with properties such as high optical clarity, weatherability, high-temperature performance, and excellent compatibility. Furthermore, the oligomers make it easy for formulators to tailor laminating adhesives for a
wide range of applications.

Sartomer’s specialty acrylate oligomers provide UV-LED and low-energy curing systems with higher surface cure response, reduced oxygen inhibition, maximized acrylate conversion, and improved cured film properties. When used in coating and printing systems, these chemistries enable users to expand UV technology to heatsensitive substrates.

RadTech attendees can also learn about Sartomer’s family of BPA-free acrylic oligomers. These oligomers exhibit high gloss, as well as low shrinkage and solvent resistance in coatings, inks, and overprint varnishes. Formulators may use these to give their applications high gloss, high scratch resistance, and excellent hardness, with confidence that their products do not contain bisphenol A (BPA) or other components listed on the Nestlé Guidance Note on Packaging Inks.

Attendees can learn more about these technologies during the following presentations:
• “Radiation-Curable Pressure Sensitive Adhesives”
o Jin Lu, Ph.D., May 16 at 3:00 p.m. in LAX A/B
• “New Developments in UV-Curable Laminating Adhesives – Formulating for Enhanced Adhesion and
Service Properties”
o Michael Bailey, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. in LAX A/B
