Wacker’s New Silane - Terminated Polymers for Adhesives & Sealants Wacker has showcased new polymer and silicone-based products for the manufacture of coatings, adhesives and sealants at ABRAFATI 2019.

Solvent-free and High Tensile Strength Polymers

At this year’s ABRAFATI, a special focus was placed on GENIOSIL® XB and GENIOSIL® XT. GENIOSIL® XB is suited for the formulation of high-performance adhesives with high tensile lap-shear strengths.

GENIOSIL® XT, in turn, delivers highly elastic and extremely tear-resistant formulations. In contrast to many polyurethane-based products, these properties are attained without any solvents or isocyanates – and without using tin catalysts.

Modern adhesives and sealants are increasingly used – in the construction industry, in transportation and even in the energy industry. WACKER’s silane-terminated polymers offer good workability and enable increased throughput in the manufacture of adhesives inn addition to high tear strength, flexibility and weathering resistance. This fulfills important requirements imposed by today’s manufacturers and users on modern adhesive and sealant technologies.

Other Products at Display

The Group’s exhibits featured technology for formulating wall paints in powder form, VINNEVA® polymer dispersions for bituminous coatings, and VINNAPAS® binders for mineral-based skim coats. The focus was on a new silicone resin binder for exterior paints, as well as on a silane-based protective coating for concrete and flowing-screed floors.

ABRAFATI is Latin America’s largest tradeshow for paints and coatings and takes place from October 1 to 3 in São Paulo, Brazil.
