Hydrocarbon resins are low molecular weight amorphous synthetic polymers manufactured from petroleum based feedstock. When compared to natural feedstock based tackifiers these resins show a lower compatibility with base polymers. Aliphatics, aromatics, mixed aliphatic / aromatic and pure monomers (aromatic) are some common types of hydrocarbon resin tackifiers.
