Disproportionated rosin. Acts as a tackifier and plasticizer. Is stable, non-oxidizing rosin consisting principally of dehydroabietic acid. This stability is brought about by an intra-molecular rearrangement and dehydrogenation of abietic acid, the major constituent of rosin, to dehydroabietic acid, a more stable type of rosin acid containing the benzenoid nucleus. Is widely used in surgical & industrial tapes.
