Adhesive Microencapsulation Splits Opinions

If you're struggling to develop your adhesive, you might be interested in a formulation weapon that has been around for more than 35 years, but has “come out of its shell” more in recent years. Microencapsulation can be used traps a chemical within a protective outer layer. It has long been used in the food industry, for controlled release of flavours, for example, and adhesive formulators are certainly now aware of what they can do. But interestingly, it seems a single “killer” microencapsulation application is yet to emerge. Instead, when Specialchem4Adhesives asked its readers, the voters were evenly split on what they thought the greatest benefit of microencapsulation is.
