Such seemingly simple objects as snack packets have to meet a surprisingly large number of criteria. As well as being economical, they now have to be sustainable, while also taking into account the “consumer experience”. How the layers of packaging are bonded has an important part to play in this. One manufacturer recently found this when their customers complained about the amount of noise their compostable chip packets were making. Another had a similar experience with popcorn packages that allowed people to see the kernels explode while also using environmentally friendly adhesives. How can adhesive producers help packaging and food companies keep their customers happy in this demanding new world?
