I note that lap shears also seem to have a tensile component as the adherends bend somewhat when loaded.

Hello, I have a real industry application issue. For rolling stock application , we 'glue' HPL to aluminum substrates. Is the use of Industrial Adhesive tapes ( PSA type ) appropriate for this kind of application . The glue is acrylic water based with a scrimp . What is the appropriate test to validate this construction. Thanks
