Surfaces that can Change Their Wettability on Demand

This editorial looks at research going on in the area of “switchable” surfaces. These surfaces can be made wetting or non-wetting by the application of an external stimulus. Examples of their currently intended use and the possibility of more general use in adhesive bonding are provided.
