Adhesives based on polysulfide resins are are available as one part and two part adhesives: they show good resistance to chemicals, good flexibility at low temperatures, excellent environmental resistance as well as, low shrinkage during cure. However polysulfide based adhesives offer low strength at temperatures above 121°C and give off unpleasant odors. One part polysulfide adhesives are used in the construction industry and cure very slowly; two part polysulfide adhesives offer higher toughness, good impact resistance, and due to their exceptional fuel resistance, are used in the aerospace industry.
